22 August 2009 German expat suicide: On Friday morning 21 August a German expatriate named as Uwe Keienburt was found blown to pieces in a rubber plantation in Banglamung district. The deceased, aged either 44 or 45, depending on which reports are checked, was an engineer who lived in Bangkok with his Thai wife. First reports suggested he had been possibly murdered by business rivals, using C4 explosives tied to his body. According to police reports, it appears the man committed suicide by pulling the pin on a hand grenade after driving from his home in Bangkok direct to the open field in Banglamung. His wife, say the police, said he had been feeling depressed after a number of business ventures had failed to materialise.
