A Grand name for a struggling complex: Back in May 2003 the ostentatiously named Queen’s Park Plaza complex, about 50 metres down Second Road from the Greg’s Kitchen English noshery, opened for business. As I wrote at the time, ‘the place will have beer boozers, an ogling den, nosheries, massage facilities, and a karaoke lounge. Talk about trying to be all things to all people. I’m surprised there isn’t a child-minding centre and an old people’s rest home on the site as well.’ It was no surprise the place failed miserably and eventually closed. Over the past few years the beer boozers at the front have tried to carry on trading, although the usual wallet emptiers are members of the all cock and false pussy brigade. The complex is now known as the Grand Beer Night Plaza.
